Central Link Light Rail Line S. Boeing Access ROAD, to S. 154TH Street, Seattle, WA
AVA’s Role: AVA provided Landscape Design Services for this five (5)-mile long light rail line corridor through Seattle, a segment of Sound Transit’s Central Link System. AVA was a subconsultant to Hatch Mott MacDonald.
Description: Sound Transit’s Central Link Light Rail line corridor traverses a variety of conditions, including elevated trainways, undulating topography, wetlands, adjacency to a freeway, and a river crossing from S. Boeing Access Road to S. 154th Street. The scope of the landscaping project restores areas that are disturbed during the construction process, supplements the existing vegetation, enhances the approaches to the stations, and provides natural screening for the operational equipment. AVA coordinated its landscaping design with other members of the design team, as well as numerous project stakeholders. The landscaping of the ends of the line segment is being designed to provide a seamless transition to the existing landscaping and streetscape of the adjacent communities.
