AVA’s Role: AVA was a part of a Construction Management team that provided inspection services for retrofitting bridges in the Caltrans District 7 area of Los Angeles under the direction of Caltrans Resident Engineers. Our inspectors assured that the work was performed in accordance with plans and specifications, performed quality calculations, verified the layout and coring operation for bridge restrainers and extenders, inspected high strength grouting, quality control of concrete placement, making tests and taking samples, CWI welding inspection of concrete casings, reviewed CWI inspectors certifications and welders qualifications, welding procedures, submittals, and verified testing of all materials and processes. AVA reviewed contractor progress payments, kept diaries, and wrote progress reports.
