Puente Avenue Grade Separation Project, City of Industry, CA
AVA’s Role: AVA is providing construction management services, with responsibilities for inspection and safety oversight. AVA performs overall inspection and coordination for construction of the project scope described below and coordinates its services with the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), the City of Industry, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, the Los Angeles County Sanitation District, and numerous utility companies, including Edison, AT&T, Verizon/Frontier, Time Warner, and Southern California Gas.
Description: The Puente Avenue Grade Separation Project is located within the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Alhambra Subdivision in the City of Industry, along Puente Avenue at milepost (MP) 498.20. The grade separation is located between Valley Boulevard to the south and Nelson Avenue to the north, where Puente Avenue is lowered beneath the UPRR tracks. The project includes construction of a bridge structure carrying Valley Boulevard over Puente Avenue within an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The project scope includes sewer improvements; utility casing beneath the UPRR tracks; pile installation; retaining wall construction; waterline installation; a sewer siphon with airline; installation of steel girders for the UPRR structure; roadway excavation; construction of the concrete structure for the Valley Boulevard bridge; street lighting; landscaping and irrigation; storm-drain realignment; protection of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District’s Avocado Creek drainage facility; and signing, striping, and traffic control.
