AVA’s Role: Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA), as part of the consultant team under contract with the City of Santa Clarita, provided architectural design for the new community park adjacent to the existing Via Princessa Station. AVA was also responsible for lighting design and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineering services.

Description: The City of Santa Clarita developed a new neighborhood park for the Via Princessa community, including upgrades to the existing Via Princessa Station along the Antelope Valley Line, formerly known as the Santa Clarita Line. AVA designed new restroom facilities and provided the associated architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services. AVA also designed a new pedestrian and vehicular crossing and provided lighting and electrical engineering services for the overall project. The improvements included electric-vehicle charging stations and new LED lighting for the existing parking lot. AVA coordinated with Southern California Edison to provide new transformers and abandon the existing utility poles and overhead electrical lines. The project presented significant design, construction, and testing challenges because Metrolink service was required to remain operational throughout construction. AVA developed the design and construction-phasing approach to maintain safe and convenient passenger access to daily train service while accommodating demolition, debris removal, material deliveries, construction activities, and project closeout. The planning also addressed access for construction equipment and delivery vehicles, as well as space for material storage. Construction phasing and staging were carefully coordinated to maintain passenger safety, comfort, and convenience throughout the project.
