Las Vegas Monorail – Maintenance Facility Building
Description: As part of the congestion-management plan for the Las Vegas casino area, the Regional Transportation Commission selected a monorail system to carry passengers along the Strip under the Resort Corridor Transportation Master Plan. The six-mile system, integrated with the monorail already under construction, includes thirteen stations and a new maintenance yard and shop located midway in an urban setting — which made the design of an aesthetically pleasing facility that fits the surrounding urban fabric a critical objective.
AVA’s Role: Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) provided architectural and engineering design during the preliminary engineering phase for the Las Vegas Monorail maintenance yard and shop, delivering architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering design together with cost-estimating support. Project costs guided the design parameters, making an efficient, functional yard-and-shop layout a central component of the final design.
