Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project
Bypassing the 405
The Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project, led by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), will revolutionize travel between the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This high-speed rail line provides a sustainable and efficient alternative to the heavily congested I-405 Freeway, which accommodates over 400,000 daily trips. With $9.5 billion in funding from Measure M and other sources, the project is set to transform regional transit by offering energy-efficient travel and reducing commuting times.
Westwood and UCLA
Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) contributed advanced architectural and urban design expertise, focusing on three underground stations: Wilshire/Westwood/D Line, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Sepulveda Exposition/E Line. These stations are pivotal for connecting dense urban areas and enhancing multimodal transit interfaces. AVA also provided urban design and landscape architecture for the entire alignment, covering eight station plazas and maintenance facilities, while ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding neighborhoods. The project also integrates with the Van Nuys Metrolink/Amtrak station and UCLA, with provisions for future extensions to LAX.
