AVA’s Role: Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) provided civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineering support for the structural seismic retrofit of Rockridge Aerial Station.
Description: The BART’s Rockridge Station was constructed around 1970 and consists of eight spans of steel girders supported by paired rectangular concrete columns with concrete bent caps. The column footings are supported on steel piles. The station platform consists of a concrete deck slab over steel framing, while the access structures, pedestrian bridge, and concourse are located beneath the platform.
