Design and Engineering Services for C720 SVBX Project: Campus, Roadway and Parking Structures
AVA’s Role: The Silicon Valley BART Extension (SVBX) was a VTA design-build project that extended BART heavy-rail service from Warm Springs Station to Berryessa Station. Under the C720 contract, Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) provided planning and design services for facilities within the Berryessa and Milpitas BART station campuses.
Description: AVA provided architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering services for facilities at the Berryessa and Milpitas station campuses. At Berryessa Station, AVA prepared design-bid-build documents for the 5,000-square-foot BART Police Zone Facility and 10 Bus Transit Center canopies, as well as design-build bridging documents for the parking structure. The Police Zone Facility was designed to support multiple BART stations along the extension, while the canopies provide shelter for passengers waiting to board buses. The eight-level Berryessa parking structure was designed to accommodate 1,490 vehicles at opening, with provisions for future horizontal expansion to a total capacity of 2,690 vehicles as demand increases. At Milpitas Station, AVA prepared design-build bridging documents for a parking structure designed to accommodate 650 vehicles at opening, with provisions for future horizontal expansion by an additional 1,300 parking spaces.
Size: Two BART station campuses; parking structures accommodating 1,490 vehicles at Berryessa and 650 vehicles at Milpitas at opening; one 5,000-square-foot Police Zone Facility; and 10 Bus Transit Center canopies
