Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project
Bypassing the 405
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is advancing the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project to evaluate high-capacity transit alternatives between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside, with potential future connections toward Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). As part of the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Partners (STCP) team, Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) supported the development of Alternatives 4 and 5, which are among the alternatives under consideration by Metro. The project is intended to provide a sustainable, high-capacity transit alternative to travel along the heavily congested I-405 corridor and improve regional mobility. Metro has not yet selected a preferred alternative or developer for the project.
Westwood and UCLA
As part of the STCP team supporting Alternatives 4 and 5, AVA provided architectural and urban design services focused on three underground stations: Wilshire/Westwood/D Line, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Sepulveda Exposition/E Line. AVA supported the architectural design of these stations, which were developed to address connections within dense urban areas and multimodal transit interfaces. AVA also provided urban design and landscape architecture support for the alignment, including station plazas and maintenance facilities, with consideration for minimizing impacts on surrounding neighborhoods. In addition, AVA supported the development of architectural renderings for the other stations included in the STCP concepts. The alternatives also consider connections with the Van Nuys Metrolink/Amtrak station and UCLA, as well as provisions for potential future transit connections south toward LAX.
