Honolulu Rail Transit Hālawa Station @ Aloha Stadium
THe Kamehameha Highway Station Group Stations
AVA’s Role: Anil Verma Associates, Inc. (AVA) served as the prime consultant for the Kamehameha Highway Station Group (KHSG) contract, which included Pearl Highlands Station, Pearlridge Station, Aloha Stadium Station, and the H2R2 Ramp. AVA’s scope of services varied by station: at Pearl Highlands Station, AVA performed the Architectural, Structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering-design services; at Pearlridge Station, AVA performed Architectural-Engineering Design Services; and at Aloha Stadium Station, AVA performed Project Management. Civil, landscape, and other engineering services were provided locally. The broader HART project comprises a 20-mile, grade-separated fixed-guideway transit system extending between East Kapolei and Ala Moana.
Description: The KHSG contract comprised three complex aerial stations — Pearl Highlands, Pearlridge, and Aloha Stadium — and the H2R2 freeway ramp. AVA’s specific scope of services at each station is set forth in AVA’s Role, above.
Aloha Stadium station
Aloha Station has two (2) elevated, two hundred forty (240) foot long side platforms, located within the existing Kamehameha Parking Lot at Aloha Stadium. The elevated side platforms are accessed directly from the at-grade entrance structures via stairs, elevators, and escalators. A single station entrance is provided to serve Aloha Stadium and the adjacent park-and-ride lot/bus transit center. Train Control and Communications Room and other ancillary equipment rooms are housed in a separate building at ground level. The site design includes a public plaza, the park-and-ride facility, bus transit center, and landscaping of the station site.
