Description

On this Design-Bid-Build contract, AVA performed the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work for the kiosk design, paying particular attention to the user interfaces and the locations of the kiosks to provide enhanced station surveillance and ease of maintenance.  A major part of the work was interfacing with the existing electrical and communications systems, and addressing the updated surveillance and security communications requirements. These kiosks were retrofitted into existing stations whose as-built drawings were not entirely up-to-date.  Concealing the conduits was also a challenge, as the runs quite often travelled the length of the station. This resulted in significant on-site inspection and Metro coordination to assure compatibility with the as-built conditions and constructability.  AVA supported the procurement.
