Responsibilities included: Construction Management Services for this twenty two (22) miles of track with twenty two (22) passenger stations and other associated facilities.

Project Description

This multi-million dollar project consisted of twenty two (22) miles of track complete with twenty two (22) passenger stations, five (5) new bridges, tunnels, a large vehicle maintenance facility, utility and piping systems, instrumentation and control systems, electrical power distribution and communication systems. The system is now in operation. AVA was subconsultant to Transcal, a joint venture responsible to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for managing this project. The Blue Line Light Rail terminated in a combined underground station, intersecting the underground Metro Heavy Rail Red Line at the 7th and Flower Station. This work involved over a mile of cut and cover tunnel construction. The other end of the Blue Line terminated in downtown Long Beach with four at grade stations on busy urban commercial streets.
