Description
As part of continued expansion of the George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex, the City is developing a roller-skating rink to bring additional active amenity to a flourishing community. The roller-skating rink includes a fully covered skating area, a shaded spectator seating area, lockers and event areas, a four-sided hip roof, hardscape and landscape features around the rink, security cameras, specialty lighting, and sound systems with multiple speakers and inputs, WIFI access, a private audio booth and a drinking fountain. In addition, the team is exploring an overall enclosed building facility with restrooms, event rooms, HVAC, and solar panels. The site itself is part of a larger park. The desired roller-skating rink location is adjacent to a sports complex gymnasium, basketball courts, gazebos and a parking lot. Safety is a top priority for public spaces in general as well as for this site. As a piece of the overall park, the new roller-skating ring will blend into the surrounding complex and complement its needs. The proposed plan is sensitive to the needs of the neighborhood, as well as the physical needs of the park’s users, specifically children, elderly and those with mobility challenges. Especially during the past few years of isolation for our children, fun activities that can be enjoyed by family and friends is critical. Last but not least, the proposed plan is promoting the environmental health of the site.
