AVA’s Role

AVA provided Design and Construction Documents for the HVAC Replacement Project located at 10th Street Elementary School on 1000 Grattan Street, in Los Angeles, CA.

Description

Three (3) buildings constructed between 1910 and 1976 at LAUSD’s 10th Street elementary School needed an HVAC replacement and upgrade. AVA was tasked with assessing the campus HVAC needs and prepared an investigation report to support the recommendations for replacement of several roof mounted multi-zone units, basement boiler, attic heat pumps, and cooling tower. Several challenges were overcome due to the lack of as-built information, lack of equipment access, and non-conformance to LAUSD standards. Several site visitations were necessary to prepare backgrounds reflecting the existing conditions. Demolition drawings, HVAC, Controls, and Plumbing drawings, Electrical Drawings, Architectural Drawings, Structural Drawings, Title 24 Calculations, and cost estimates were prepared to a 100% level of construction document completion and approved by DSA. Acoustical analysis, electrical testing, and ductwork systems pressure testing and investigation were also performed.

  • 2 Story Classroom Building (#BB-136):  Replace (4) rooftop gas/electric packaged units with efficient units per LAUSD standards; Replace (1) roof access hatch and ladder.
